Points For Patients

New England cancer patients and their families will root extra hard for the home team this year, as local energy provider National Grid will donate $500 to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation for every New England touchdown scored during the 2013 – 2014 NFL season. National Grid will also match donations made by the public, dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000, to the Points for Patients campaign. In addition, The Place restaurant in Boston will donate 25 percent of all sales generated during New England football games this season to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, with a minimum donation of $25,000.

The Foundation’s Points for Patients campaign will help support patients and their families as they fight everyday financial battles during cancer treatment – including mounting rent and mortgage payments, and other household bills. With each touchdown scored, National Grid’s contribution will directly support those in need – providing financial relief to cancer patients and their families so they can better focus on their recovery.

“The impact that the Joe Andruzzi Foundation makes in the lives of cancer patients and their families is so positive and substantive. We are honored to team up with the Foundation and CBS Radio on this initiative,” Marcy Reed, president, National Grid Massachusetts. “As a local provider of safe and reliable energy services, we are deeply rooted in New England and giving back to the community is critical to our organization. We strongly believe in supporting local charities that share that goal. The National Grid team will be among the loudest cheering on the New England Patriots this season.”

This is the second time that National Grid has teamed up with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. Last year, National Grid, CBS Radio and the Joe Andruzzi Foundation partnered on a similar Touchdowns by Tom campaign, where funds were donated for each touchdown pass thrown by Tom Brady. Last year’s campaign raised $118,325 to support the Foundation. This year’s partnering organizations are hoping to surpass that amount in an effort to provide even more relief to more families impacted by cancer throughout the region.

So this season while you're listening to 98.5 The Sports Hub's Patriots Radio Network, be sure to keep an ear out for Joe's public service announcements and become part of a winning team by giving now!
