Lawson Charitable Foundation

The Lawson Charitable Foundation (LCF) has partnered with JAF since 2022. Based in Rhode Island, LCF and Co-Founders Cathy and the late Tom Lawson have generously supported JAF with more than $520,000 in support of JAF Assistance Programs. The Foundation is the Matching Gift Sponsor for 401Gives and, in 2025, became the first Rhode Island State Sponsor of JAF Programs.

LCF understands that there are times when families who are typically self-sufficient can experience unexpected challenges that disrupt their financial and physical well-being. By supporting programs that provide critical resources and services during these challenging times for families, LCF is helping to empower people to overcome temporary setbacks and rebuild their path toward long-term stability and independence.

The Lawson Charitable Foundation (LCF) was established in 2021 by philanthropists Cathy and Tom Lawson, following many years of personal commitment to supporting organizations across New England and beyond. Inspired by their deep love for community and their desire to expand their philanthropic efforts, the Lawsons founded LCF to formalize their giving and create a lasting impact on the causes they care about most.

Since its founding, LCF has become a trusted partner to many organizations, providing support and resources to initiatives that focus on caregiver respite, childhood mental health, pediatric special needs, veterans’ assistance, and critical needs support which focuses on helping those who are working hard to help themselves and others. With a strong foundation rooted in the Lawsons’ vision and values, LCF continues to expand its reach, always guided by the belief that every act of kindness can make a lasting difference.
