The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) serves New England cancer patients who are experiencing financial and emotional stress due to a cancer diagnosis. Cancer-driven income loss, and rising out-of-pocket costs, can leave families laboring to cover their everyday needs. Research links this economic strain – Financial Toxicity – with poorer health outcomes. Because bills cannot be left unpaid due to a diagnosis, the JAF Programs help alleviate financial stress by assisting with rent/mortgage payments, utilities, food, and other essential household expenses, so that patients and families can focus on accessing cancer care and the fight to get well.
Position summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Events, this position is a part of the Development team. They will support the Senior Manager of Events with large-scale events, athletic activities, and third-party fundraisers. They will focus on event logistics, auction fundraising, registration and guest management, volunteer staffing and training, and other duties as assigned. The Event Coordinator will be an essential team member in the successful execution of JAF’s signature events such as the annual gala, golf tournament, Team JAF activities (Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race), and third-party events.
The Event Coordinator will have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
Events Planning and Operations
- Support the Senior Manager of Events for signature and community events, including managing the external vendors JAF will partner with to reach event objectives and fundraising goals for the fundraiser (e.g., event planner, auction, graphic designer, auctioneer)
- Day-to-day administration of events and programs including placing orders, BEO review, monitoring vendors, travel planning, facilitating attendees, monitoring registration, tracking RSVPs, answering questions, and resolving issues
- Serve as primary staff member responsible for gala and golf auction, including procurement and organization of all items, auction descriptions, donor thank-you letters, and redemption certificates
- Assist Senior Manager of Events with Basecamp project management for signature and community events, inviting internal and external people who have roles and responsibilities for the project
- Collaborate with Development staff to build invitation lists and develop event themes/directions
- Work closely with the Development Operations Manager to ensure all event information goes into Salesforce and that systems are in place to quickly and appropriately acknowledge donors, sponsors, partners, and volunteers
- Oversee all efforts to assure smooth day-of-event production and attendee experience, including registration, volunteer training, securing sites, securing permits, menu selection, event staging, and all related actions
Team JAF Activities
- Assist Senior Manager of Events with execution of plans for each athletic event, including managing the external vendors JAF will partner with to reach the activity’s objectives and fundraising goals (e.g., running coach, signature apparel, graphic designer)
- Work closely with the Development Operations Manager tracking athlete fundraising progress and acknowledging gifts
- Work closely with Senior Manager of Events to coordinate and order all apparel, customized for each Team JAF event, as needed
Third-Party Fundraisers
- Support third-party hosts with needed information, materials, or questions
- Support Senior Manager of Events by attending and participating in third-party events when applicable

Salary and hours
- $20.00 to $22.00. per hour
- Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, five days between Monday -Friday. Some weekend and evenings Work schedule flexibility may accommodate evening hours.

Position summary
The Manager of Foundation and Corporate Relations is an essential member of the JAF Development team responsible for executing designated components of the strategic Development Plan including, but not limited to, securing funding partners for JAF campaigns, programs, and operations, achieving measurable revenue targets. The Manager of Foundation and Corporate Relations will report to the Vice President of Development. They will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team, Programs team, Finance team, and other members of the Development team to raise funds that support our mission and Foundation goals. The Manager of Foundation and Corporate Relations will conduct prospect research, write program descriptions, and develop proposals and progress reports for donor prospects, corporations, and foundations. They will co-manage the JAF Young Professionals Council with the Senior Manager of Events.
The Manager of Foundation and Corporate Relations will have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership
- Develop and manage annual fundraising plans, including meeting timelines and strategies, in collaboration with the Vice President of Development, other staff, and volunteers aligning with JAF’s yearly organization goals
- Build KPIs to track goals and progress with the use of Salesforce dashboards and reporting
Principle Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of prospective and current corporate and foundation partnerships to solicit five- and six-figure (and larger) philanthropic commitments that support JAF’s work throughout New England
- Manage a foundation and grants calendar of prospective and current foundations, along with spearheading all application processes
- Work closely with the Programs and Finance team to coordinate fundraising strategies with program-related funding needs
- Develop and maintain the JAF Foundation and Grants library, ensuring all documents are up to date with budgets and program impact numbers
- Maintain and monitor internal tracking system with a schedule for all pre- and post-grant deliverables collaborating with the Marketing & Communications, Programs, and Finance teams on deliverables as needed
- Research corporations in the New England identifying philanthropic giving programs with marketing similarities
- Write compelling, original grant proposals that increase donor awareness around the Cost of Cancer and Financial Toxicity while speaking to how JAF Programs are lifelines to our patient and family recipients and what their investment would mean to the cancer community
- Support senior leadership to help advance the Foundation’s mission and vision
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership and the Development team to ensure each corporate partner and foundation is involved with the campaign(s) and/or program(s) that best fits their mission, always with the goal of nurturing long-term relationships
- Maintain a high-quality stewardship process for active corporate and foundation prospects and donors, working closely with Programs staff to schedule and lead meetings, events, and visits, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality reports and evaluations
- Support the development and oversight of the Foundation’s corporate giving society (Champions Circle) to lead active corporate members to additional foundation activities and programs
- Serve as staff representative on the Development and Campaign Committees; work with the committee chairs to maintain minutes of meetings and drive projects
- Serve as the staff lead for JAF Young Professionals Council (YPC)
- Help create and build upon a culture of giving at JAF
Intern and volunteer management
- Maintain a culture that attracts, retains, and motivates top quality personnel, both paid and volunteer
- Effectively enable staff and volunteers to communicate JAF’s values, vision, and direction to engage people in the mission of JAF

Relevant Experience and Skills
- Experience in building a foundation and corporate relations program and proven ability to inspire others effectively
- Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and close grants from foundations and corporations
- Demonstrated donor research skills, including familiarity and/or experience with foundation search engines and/or other prospecting tools
- Sophisticated understanding of the record-keeping and stewardship systems needed to support and grow a successful donor relations program (MS Office; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus)
- Superior written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop proposals, reports, and accompanying financial materials
- Experience fundraising for an oncology or social service organization is preferred but not required
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience: A minimum of five years of foundation fundraising experience with an emphasis on grant writing, record keeping, stewardship systems, and project management
Salary and hours
- Salary commensurate with experience. Exempt position with a hiring range of $62,000 – $65,000 annually.

Position summary
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and the Creative Design Manager with all aspects of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s written marketing materials, web and social media content, and communications efforts. This role also interfaces with the Development and Programs staff on select projects, as well as with external partners. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator helps promote and disseminate key Foundation messages through e-newsletters, press releases, web platforms, videos, social media, events, and marketing campaigns.
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
- Provide support across various disciplines and platforms, drafting and editing content ranging from blog posts to website content, newsletters, email communication, social media, and outreach
- Serve as the primary manager of Mailchimp email marketing platform and JAF newsletter
- Draft, proofread, and edit program material, e-blast forms, monthly e-newsletters, email communications, marketing materials, and video scripts to ensure quality, clarity, and consistency with the brand
- Work with internal team to support fundraising campaigns and program initiatives
- Attend and support Foundation events as part of Marketing & Communications team
