Golf Fights Cancer (GFC) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Jay Monahan and Brian Oates. The organization was established in response to the premature passing of their friend and colleague, Rob Stevens, who lost his battle with cancer. After attending Rob’s funeral, Jay and Brian committed to running the Boston Marathon to raise funds for Rob’s family, which led to the creation of GFC.
Today, GFC harnesses the passion and generosity of the golfing community to raise critical funds for cancer-related organizations and families affected by the disease. GFC offers targeted donations of equipment, services, and amenities that make an immediate, meaningful impact on cancer treatment, improving the experience for both patients and their families.
Each year, GFC hosts various golf events, including the Golf Marathon—a unique and inspiring day of golf, fundraising, and camaraderie. During this event, a dedicated group of golfers plays 100 or more holes of golf in a single day, raising thousands of dollars to combat cancer. Participants choose a charity to support, with 100% of the funds they raise going directly to their selected organization.
Since 2016, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) has proudly partnered with GFC. Over the years, we have been honored to be one of GFC’s beneficiary charities, receiving more than $460,000 in cumulative support through this meaningful partnership.
This year, JAF is excited to once again serve as an official charity partner of the Golf Fights Cancer Golf Marathon, marking another year of collaboration, continuing our shared commitment to supporting cancer patients and families.
On Thursday, June 4, six dedicated golfers will take on the challenge at Juniper Hill Golf Course as members of Team JAF, helping raise critical funds and awareness for our mission. We are so proud to have them representing JAF and deeply thankful for their commitment and generosity.
