On Monday, June 8th, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) hosted our 18th Annual Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Massachusetts. The Foundation raised $319,000 for New England cancer patients and their families.
BIG thank you to this year’s Presenting Sponsor, Bob’s Discount Furniture, for helping us put on such a wonderful event filled with fun, laughter, and great moments throughout the day.
Following registration, sponsored by Thimble Island Private Wealth, facilitated by our amazing staff, golfers gathered to enjoy a delicious breakfast courtesy of Majestic Construction before hearing welcome remarks from Joe Andruzzi and Jen Andruzzi.
“We wouldn’t be here today without the help of many people like you.” said Chief Engagement Officer, Joe Andruzzi.
“As the need continues to rise across New England, we are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, golfers, donors, and community partners who continue to show up for patients and families when they need it most,” said Jen Andruzzi, Co-Founder, President & CEO of JAF. “The support from this tournament helps provide real relief for families facing cancer, from transportation to treatment and household bills, food, housing, and other essential needs.
This year, we were excited to invite all of our guests to take part in our Adopt-A-Family Challenge, introduced to the golfers by JAF patient recipient, Renee Malloy.
Each golf cart featured the story of a JAF patient family (sponsored by Lane, Lane and Kelly), giving golfers the opportunity to “adopt” them for the day. Throughout the course, participants encountered six giving opportunities, where they could make a $50 pledge. A foursome that participated in all six opportunities could pledge up to $1,200—enough to provide critical support for a family of four undergoing cancer treatment.
Throughout the tournament, golfers enjoyed a variety of on-course contests and activities, including a putting contest (sponsored by Apotho Therapeutics/Frankie’s Hospitality Group).
New this year was the popular “Beat the Pros” challenge on Hole 2. Featuring former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer and former Patriots offensive lineman David Andrews alongside the NOBULL team, the challenge gave golfers the opportunity to test their skills against the pros. Only a select few managed to come out on top, earning a complimentary NOBULL hat for their efforts. Thanks to NOBULL’s generosity, every golfer also received a branded towel to take home as a memorable keepsake from the day.
We are grateful for Hoyer and Andrews, as well as Jacob Wycoff from CBS News Boston who not only golfed with us but graciously took on emcee duties alongside Joe and Jen for the day. We also would like to thank Ross Hochstein, former Patriots center; Dante Scharnechia, former Patriots offensive line coach; and Max Lane, former Patriots offensive tackle, for their continued support of our mission and for being a part of the day!
A special shout out to our Lunch Sponsor- Phoenix Communications, Beverage Sponsor- Landmark Medical/Prime Healthcare, Snack Sponsor – AIM Mutual Insurance and Poland Spring Water and La Colombe Coffee for keeping the group full and hydrated throughout the day. Vitamin Sea Brewing out of Hingham joined us for the first time, allowing golfers to sample their tasty craft beer.
The fun extended beyond the course with DJ Luke Renchan keeping the vibe up, a Chance drawing sponsored by DraftKings, as well as a silent auction sponsored by AmpliX, featuring incredible items including sought-after concert tickets like Olivia Rodrigo and Zach Brown Band. Guests could also bid on VIP dinners, Patriots tickets, exciting getaways, and much more.
After a full day of golf, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour courtesy of Glidefast Consulting/Lombardo Legacy Fund, followed by a dinner buffet sponsored by Teltron Engineering.
One of the most meaningful moments of the day—and a powerful reminder of what this event is truly all about—came during dinner with the presentation of our Mission video (sponsored by The Derenzo Charitable Foundation).
Guests had the opportunity to hear from Renee and her husband, Greg, as they shared their family’s cancer journey. Renee was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 35 years old. Thanks to the support of her family, friends, and community, she is now in remission and continues to make memories with her three daughters.
JAF provided Renee’s family with both a Food Security Grant and Financial Assistance Grant. Renee and her family also participated in two of JAF’s (Up)Beat Events, experiences we are grateful to be able to provide our patients and families going through treatment, giving them a break, even for just a day, from cancer.
Following the video, Renee received a standing ovation from the entire room.
We encourage you to watch Renee’s Mission video and learn more about the impact your support makes possible. We were also honored to welcome Renee and Greg to play the course this year.
Overall, the 18th Annual Joe Andruzzi and Friends Golf Tournament was a resounding success, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year in support of such an important cause.
JAF would like to thank each and every person who showed up, including our incredible sponsors, who made this event possible. Because of your generosity and support, we can continue our mission of helping cancer patients and their families when they need it most.
