On Friday August 21st, The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) partnered with Munroe Dairy to host the first ever Scoops of Kindness event, bringing the Summer of Kindness campaign to a close. The day was dedicated to laughter, sweet treats, and creating meaningful moments for the families we serve.
Held at Sacred Cow Ice Cream Shop in Rhode Island, JAF welcomed patient recipients and their families to enjoy complimentary ice cream, meet Jen and Joe Andruzzi, and celebrate the final days of summer.
For many individuals and families facing a cancer diagnosis, simple everyday activities can often take a backseat to medical appointments, treatment schedules, and the financial hardships that accompany a diagnosis. Something as simple as going out for ice cream can easily become a low priority.
JAF wanted to make sure those moments weren’t forgotten.
Upon arrival, families were greeted by JAF and Munroe Dairy staff and invited to enjoy the treat of their choice, whether it was ice cream, a pastry, or a refreshing drink. Families spent time connecting with others who understand the challenges of navigating cancer while enjoying an afternoon focused on fun rather than treatment.
Attendees also had the opportunity to chat with Joe and Jen Andruzzi, take photos, collect signed autographs from Joe, and even try on his Superbowl rings!
The event was made possible through the generosity of our supporters, including those who contributed through our Sponsor a Scoop initiative, as well as everyone who supports JAF throughout the year. Their contributions helped make the event possible while also supporting the programs, services, and (Up)Beat events JAF provides to individuals and families navigating cancer throughout New England.
Scoops of Kindness reflected the spirit of the Summer of Kindness campaign by celebrating community and demonstrating how even the smallest act can make a difference in someone’s day.
We are incredibly grateful to Munroe Dairy for providing all of the treats and helping create such a memorable day for the families we serve. We also thank everyone who attended, donated, shared the campaign, and sponsored a scoop. Together, you helped make the end of summer a little sweeter while ensuring JAF can continue providing help, hope, and a reason to smile for individuals and families navigating cancer.
