“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
– Helen Keller
To meet the ever-increasing needs of cancer patients and their families throughout New England, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) relies on many supporters to help us raise funds. That support sometimes comes from community groups, schools, local businesses, organizations, or even individuals who host various events and fundraisers. JAF refers to these as Supporter Hosted Events and in 2019, they helped to raise over $219,000 to for New England cancer patients!
Another name we like to use for these supporters is heroes! All of these amazing individuals and groups share one common desire – to help create awareness about the hidden cost of cancer that patients and their families are facing by helping to raise funds so JAF can provide financial assistance to these families in need.
There were hundreds of people who played a part in raising last year’s record-breaking total through Supporter Hosted Events. These events ranged from a “Jeans Day” at the office, private parties (Party in a Box), to school fundraisers as part of JAF’s Project 800 effort – and everything in between! Some of these fundraising efforts have become annual events: golf tournaments like the 5th Annual ROI Communications Customer-Partner Golf Outing and Foster Country Club’s 10th Annual Charity Classic… for the third year in a row, the Suffolk University Police Department ran their Pink Patch Project… Betsy’s Barber Shop held her 5th Annual Cuts for Cancer event… there were the high school students from Newton North football and cheer teams, and Gardner girls field hockey team… and our friends at Bog Iron Brewing and Howie’s Restaurant also played a role with their fundraising and awareness campaigns.
On behalf of the cancer patients and families across New England that were provided financial assistance because of these wonderful Supporter Hosted Events, we say THANK YOU! Together, their combined efforts helped JAF to provide help and hope to many families facing cancer.
Each year, JAF is contacted by people looking for ways that they can also give back. Supporter Hosted Fundraising is a great way for individuals, offices, and schools to get involved.
