The Season FORE Fundraising!

1-sizedWith the holiday weekend in front of us, it’s hard to believe that July is right around the corner. The weather in New England has been fantastic so far this summer, and last Monday was no exception.

Sunshine, combined with the perfectly manicured Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass. provided the ideal backdrop for our 8th Annual Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament – and what a record-breaking event it was!

The coming months have a lot in store for us – but before we look ahead to the Fourth and start firing up the BBQ, check out what kept the Joe Andruzzi Foundation busy in June!

All the best,

Jen and Joe Andruzzi

Golf Tournament Raises Record-Breaking $335,000!

2-sizedWe’re so incredibly thrilled to say that Monday’s 8th Annual Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament, presented by East Commerce Solutions Inc., reached new heights by raising more than $335,000 in support of our Foundation – a new record for the event! And we didn’t just sneak by our previous golf fundraising record (set in 2013) – we went above and beyond it by $60,000!

It’s truly a touching reminder of what can be accomplished when we all come together to pay it forward, and because of our tremendous supporter base, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation will be able to provide financial and emotional assistance to a growing number of those battling a cancer diagnosis. It was such a special day at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass. – one we won’t soon forget.

Be sure to check out photos from the tournament on our Facebook page (here)!

We hope to see you all again next year, so save the date! The Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament, presented (once again!) by East Commerce Solutions, Inc., will be returning to Pinehills Golf Club on June 26, 2017 for our 9th Annual event!  For a recap of our event, please click here.

The race courses will feature a start and finish with the beautiful campus of Merrimack College, undulating courses to keep you honest through historic downtown Andover and past the famous grounds of Andover Phillips Academy and through a tree-lined, shaded residential community.

There is no fundraising necessary – Team JAF will be raising awareness at the event, and we are looking for supporters to join our team at as many, or as few, of the races as you’d like.

Register today online and be sure to select Team JAF as your charity team – 50% of the registration fee will go towards our mission!

Golf Fights Cancer Marathon Raises $100,000 for JAF Patients!

4-sizedOn Friday, June 17, golfers pledged to play 100 holes in one day for the annual Golf Fights Cancer Marathon. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation was generously selected as the 2016 Golf Marathon tournament beneficiary, and the result was a beautiful day at Juniper Hill (Northborough, Mass) filled with golf, camaraderie, and fundraising.

When it was all said and done, the event raised $100,000 in support of our mission! Golfers also got to hear from former JAF Patient Recipient Lindsay Albert, who was recently profiled on our website. Lindsay shared her inspiring story, and assured golfers that their incredible fundraising efforts would make major impacts on the lives of cancer patients, just as it had for her.

On behalf of the entire Joe Andruzzi Foundation – we would like to reiterate how appreciative we are to have been selected as this year’s Golf Marathon beneficiary. Cheryl McGuire, Brian Oates, Jay Monahan and everyone at Golf Fights Cancer have empowered us to help even more cancer patients in the months to come – 142, to be exact –  and we’re forever grateful to have them in our corner.

Betsy’s Barbershop Hosts ‘Haircuts for Hudson”

5-sizedOn Sunday, June 5, the O’Shea Law Group, in conjunction with Betsy’s Barbershop in Canton, hosted a fundraiser for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation benefitting our Tough Like My Dad Fund.

Joe stopped by the event, as did Hudson’s dad – Patriots lineman Nate Solder – and by days’ end more than $7,000 had been raised in support of our mission.

We want to thank everyone for coming out to support the event, as well as Betsy’s Barbershop and the O’Shea Law Group for hosting it!

Patient Corner

Matthew Cooney

MattCooneyAt Monday’s annual golf event, we were privileged to host, and hear, the moving words from our patient speaker Matthew Cooney – a JAF patient recipient battling stage-4 Melanoma and father to a five-year-old son. There were not many dry eyes in the room as Matthew walked the crowd through his harrowing battle with cancer, describing how emotionally, physically, and financially draining a diagnosis like his can be. He discussed how JAF’s help provided much needed emotional relief when it was desperately needed, and how he continues to battle with a positive outlook. We thank Matthew for sharing his story, and wish him and his young son the best as he continues to fight with incredible perseverance.
