Stop and Shop

Stop & Shop and its parent company Ahold Delhaize have been partnering with JAF since 2009, providing JAF with more than $550,000 in support.  Stop & Shop has supported JAF’s Annual Gala, Team JAF at the Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race, and has been instrumental in the success of the Food Security Assistance Program.

In the late fall of 2020, JAF’s network of social workers and patient resource specialists provided strong indications that food insecurity was becoming a prevailing challenge for cancer patients and their families.

In response, at the end of 2020, JAF ran a pilot program, supported by Stop & Shop, to address food security among cancer patients and their families. More than 478 food-insecure patients and family members across 199 households received funding through the pilot program.  JAF’s pilot program had a tremendous impact on this population while demonstrating that food insecurity was a pressing need.

In 2021, JAF launched its Food Security Assistance program, again with support from Stop & Shop. This program remains in high demand and JAF is fortunate that Stop & Shop remains at its side to help these patients with this fundamental support, which boosts the nutritional value of the foods patients can access, helping to improve their health outcomes.

Since 2021, JAF has provided over $1,500,000 in food security assistance impacting thousands of New England families.
